AGM 2015 Report

Last week (Saturday 21st March) Hillingdon Samaritans held its Annual General Meeting at Christ Church in Uxbridge town centre. The AGM is an opportunity for all our current volunteers to catch-up and learn about what has been happening at our branch over the past 12 months. It is also open to the general public, if you are interested in finding out more about what happens in the day to day running of a charity such as Hillingdon Samaritans why not pop along next year.

We were honoured to have the meeting chaired by our very own Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Catherine Dann. A task she has very kindly undertaken for the last three years. Among other business it was reported that through the continued support of Hillingdon Borough Council, the tireless funding raising efforts of our amazing volunteers, our Ruby Appeal and generous donations, from the lovely people of Hillingdon such as yourselves, Hillingdon Samaritans managed to raise over £15,000 last year.

This is fantastic news, as all the funds we receive help us to keep our branch open. Allowing us to continue with our goal of offering everyone in the Hillingdon area and beyond an opportunity to explore difficult feelings including those of suicide. The funds raised allowed our branch alone to make over 19,000 contacts last year. That included callers who contacted us by phone, email and text message. As well as around 100 face to face callers, that is 100 residents living in the Hillingdon area who were able to come into our branch and find a safe space to talk during a difficult time.

So Thank You for your support.
