October Outreach

On Monday 9th October our outreach team visited Rackspace in Hayes. Rackspace, a large American ‘Cloud Management’, holds a tea and talk session once a month and our visit coincided with World Mental Health Awareness Day.

About 20 employees attending this talk, which had as its theme: suicide, suicidal feelings and how to help someone with these. It was an inspiring session where employees felt safe to share their experiences. The team described what we do as Samaritans, how to support others and listening skills.

They very much appreciated the benefit of having someone who would really listen and not try to take away the problem or judge – but allow them to express how they were feeling.

A big thank you to Marian and Claire for their great work in the community. If you would like to know more about our outreach events, please email outreach@hilllingdonsamaritans.org.uk
