Local Action Saves Lives

On the 6th November Samaritans launched its first political campaign: Local Action Saves Lives, our campaign for all councils to put in place effective local suicide prevention plans.

The Government has told councils that they should all have plans in place to prevent suicide by 2017. But the best available information indicates that a third of councils have no plan in place at all, and those councils who do have plans may not be doing everything they could be.

We’re calling on everyone who wants to help prevent suicide to step up and ask for action in their communities, by emailling their councillors.

All you need to do is follow this link  to the Samaritans website http://www.samaritans.org/policy/campaigns/local-action-saves-lives/take-action and enter your contact details. Samaritans will tell you who your councillors are and provide suggested text to email directly through the site.

Thank you very much for your support!
